Column fans were used where ceiling height was too high to accomodate a ceiling fan. Early fans were powered by a belt and pulley system located under the fan. In Woolen Mill Column fans, a Bodine gear reduction motor powers fan circulation. Column fans may be attached to bar tops or placed on the floor.
