BELT
& PULLEY FEATURES.
- The
metal parts are cast and machined by Amish craftsmen using turn-of-the-century
techniques. Our fans are available in iron, aluminum, or bronze,
and the blades are crafted solid mahogany. An optional 15 inch
diameter round mahogany base will add a distinguishing touch.
- The
original fans employed water motors or steam engines to run
the belts. Woolen Mill fans use a selection of modern electric
gear reduction motors, either AC or DC, depending on application.
The motors can be mounted on a wall, a ceiling, or hidden in
an adjoining room or closet.
- Round
leather belts are generally used to drive smaller fans. This
is the same type of belting which was used for many years to
run sewing machines. Larger fans require a one inch flat belt,
made from either leather or neoprene. Why
Belt and Pulley Fans?
- The
blade angles can be manually adjusted to regulate air flow.
While original fans operated at 100rpm, Woolen Mill Fans run
at 40-60rpm, for aesthetics.
